Meryem Bayram (Antwerp, 1981) is a multidisciplinary artist, set designer and curator whose work reveals the hidden relationships between objects, spaces and people.
Bayram dissects parts of utilitarian objects that she has found while walking through various cities and landscapes that intrigue her and echo a memory. In search of archetypes, she reassembles them, drawing on geometric patterns and an ontological search for objects in dialogue with each other and with the specific space. By extracting them from their functional use, she generates new affinities, possible stories and genealogies. She activates objects and invites artists, developing performative installations and stage performances.
From the simultaneous experience of the known and the unknown, a new language emerges, just when we thought we had seen everything.
