Artichoke’s Winter Concert

Winter Concert (en) poche - ÆR / Peltomaa Fraanje Perkola Trio

18/12/2024

Hailing from Finland, the Peltomaa Trio Fraanje Perkola offer an ethereal concert in the colours of winter just a few days before Christmas, in the contemporary space of the CAB, in Ixelles at 8pm, and preceded by a welcome drink at 7.30pm. Don’t miss this last pocket concert of 2024!

Trio Peltomaa Fraanje Perkola blends the sounds of the human voice, piano and viola da gamba with those of the medieval harp and various effects. With a background in early music, jazz, traditional Finnish music and contemporary music, the group draws inspiration from medieval music to develop its own distinctive sound. The ensemble delves into the songs of Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179), Pérotin (1160-1230) and 14th-century pilgrims’ songs. The echoes of monasteries, cathedrals and pilgrimage sites, combined with sensitive improvisations and original compositions, link regions and centuries and invite the listener on a journey towards peace and tranquillity. The trio is passionate about the perception of time and the way in which these beautiful medieval melodies and writings speak to us today. For the way in which the ‘present’ is represented in medieval manuscripts – the moment when they were written – and the way in which ‘the power of the present’ shapes our improvisations and compositions hundreds of years later.

A welcome drink will be served from 7.30pm, so you can enjoy the current exhibition at Fondation CAB.
