The creative process of Marija Rinkevičiūtė-Špakauskė is accompanied by explorations of materiality, leading to abstract expression and attention to memory. Her recent works are full of coincidences, from found objects to intuitive searches for wax surfaces.
“I experience a painting as a complex organism that functions as a set of experiences in a particular space and time. For this reason, I see my works as echoes of momentary experiences, echoes that I cannot find words to describe,” says Marija about her artistic practice.
