Winner of Fondation CAB Prize for a master’s degree at La Cambre, Carlín Díaz is a Venezuelan-born artist based in Brussels.
He develops a coherent body of work that stands between figuration and abstraction.
His practice is based on simple forms and highly structured compositions. He uses elements reduced to their essentials, often stylized, which become clear visual signs. This simplification allows him to create calm, balanced images in which each element is precisely placed within the space.
This relationship to simplicity and formal reduction brings his work closer to Minimal art, which seeks to remove the superfluous in order to focus attention on form and perception.
